As a child, Shaykh ul Aalam, Khwaja Mohammad Alauddin Siddiqui, possessed a warm presence and noble character traits. To name a few, he was honest, generous, humble, deep-thinking, and would show compassion towards all living beings even as a young boy.
When roughly 10 years of age, the Shaykh was very fond of cycling and would ride his bicycle through the mountainous terrains of Kashmir. It so happened that, one day, as he was cycling in this manner, and the bicycle speed gained significant momentum, he found himself facing the edge of a terrifying cliff. Due to speed, it was impossible to stop or slow down at this point. Suddenly, an unseen hand reached out and pulled the young Shaykh back, grasping him by the shoulders. Then a voice said: “O Alauddin, you were made for better things than this!” Shaken by this experience with the Rijal al Ghayb (Unseen Man), the young Shaykh immediately hurried home to the safety of his father and spiritual guide, Khwaja Ghulam Mohiuddin Ghaznavi, may Allah’s Mercy be upon him.
